- SUMO Wrestler and miniature books

TV again! The third TV camera comes to
me. This time, the reporter is a SUMO Wrestler!
Yes, my miniature books in his hands really looked
small. The SOMO Wrestler, Mai-no-Umi is famous
in Japan. He retired SUMO, and appears in a number
of dramas and commercials. One of dramas is a Hollywood
movie SAYURI, he appearsas SUMO Wrestler there.
Of course he did not know miniature books at all,
but after he watched my CAGED and DANCING ON THE CLOUDS,
he was impressed with the quality of the works. He said
it brought back pleasant memories of his childhood,
because his parents ran a yarn shop.

- Exhibitions, Exhibitions

Many Exhibitions blossom in Japanese spring!
This spring, miniature book Exhibitions are held
in Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuyama, Fukuoka.
The Exhibition in Fukuyama is my personal
exhibition.

- This is the first letter

Welcome to the Miyako's mail letter!

Now, I write for only 3 members. You are the
very special persons for me.
Are you a MBS member? My article was introduced
on Miniature Book News of June. I got many good
responses. This was my turning point, I would like
to let people outside of Japan know my activities
and situation of minibooks here. Then I have decided
writing newsletters.

But, little by little. I write short. My Japanese friends,
minibook publishers always write very short mails.
I wonder minibook writers write short.
-------------------------------------------------------------
- My days in Japan

I am in great demand by two times of MBS awards.
Recently, many works are on the progress
Simultaneously.

For example, yesterday I went to a radio station
to talk about miniature books for 20 minutes,
then came back to my home office and talked about
a miniature book festival in autumn on the
phone.

I like hand work, to sit down and cut papers, bind books,
and I check emails and respond mail orders.
I had 20 books to bind, but such a long day passed without
being done.

I live near Tokyo. About 30-60 minutes to nearly everywhere,
radio stations, book shops, paper shops, galleries, and so on.
It is my advantage.
-------------------------------------------------------------
- Miniature Book Festival in October

Miniature book festival will be held on 12-13th of October
in Kanda, Tokyo. Kanda is the famous area for
used book shops.

80 publishers will sell minibooks at the festival.
Most of them are made of original stories, poems,
illustrations and photos, computer-printed by
themselves. Their circulation will be typically 20-30,
cost $10-30.

I will be a staff in the event, I will sell my minibooks,
do workshops, do talk show. Please pray good luck!

I am interested in the Conclave, held in San Diego
in September, but overseas is just far from here.
And this autumn, I have to have great work for the
festival in Tokyo.
