ケースは、両手で持って開くと、本が自然にこちら側へ出てくる自動永久からくりな作りです。ルビつき・旧かな・旧漢字で、大正時代の日記のテイストをミニチュアで再現。活字と罫線は活字版組版による印刷（弘陽、三木弘志）。赤井都のオリジナルテキストを、一部活字組版で表現、特装版は二冊組で、佐佐木實が色鉛筆で揮毫。
